Math facts

Fifth graders do not get to use a calculator on assessments in class or on the end of year assessment. This is why it is so important to still keep practicing multiplication facts at home. Math is easier to tackle if you do not have to worry about simple facts.
As part of your homework you must spend at least 15 minutes a week at home practicing facts.
Here are some of my suggestions on how to practice facts.
Flash cards- Pick out 10 cards 5 you know and 5 you are struggling with. Go through these same cards all week for a few minutes each night.
Timed tests- I have some available back by my desk that you can take home. timing yourself is optional but getting the habit of writing them down is good for your brain.
Math games.

You can choose any of these suggestions to work on fact fluency. You may do more than one option to work towards you 15 minute minimum homework assignment. Parent signatures are required in your agenda by Friday.
